About me
The Full Story
When I began making macrame pieces in 2019, I really enjoyed exploring the different knots and working with fibers. I was a full time elementary art teacher, making art on the side and teaching adult classes on the weekends. As my art business and dreams grew, I knew it was time to take the leap and go full time as a working artist. As time passed and thousands of macrame pieces were created, I yearned for something with more color and movement. Fiber art that really made you feel something when you looked at and touched it.
That's when I stumbled upon weaving in 2023. I purchased a reclaimed wood frame from a friend and turned that into my loom. I found so much joy in filling the empty spaces of the frame with bold colors and different textures. It almost looked like stained glass! It was fun, brought happiness, a renewed love for creating and warmth, and made me feel connected to the past. THIS is what I was going for!
The weavings officially made their debut in the spring of 2023, and were welcomed with much excitement from market goers and art collectors. I was shocked and humbled. I couldn't be happier to share art that I truly love to make. A lot of care and thought goes into sourcing the materials to weaving each design. My textiles are sourced from small businesses and independent weavers, majority being made from recycled or natural fibers. The church window inspired frames are built from reclaimed wood, while other frames are vintage and refinished by yours truly.
I come from a long line of women who create with textiles, and to me, weaving feels like home. I love working with the variety of textures, pulling color palettes together, being inspired by the colors of the Midwest skies, retro '60s/70s, and what feels reflective of certain emotions. Hopefully you feel all of this when you view one of my weavings, and maybe more so when you run your fingers over each fiber.
Cheers to spreading joy through art!
